Looking after your bike after a ride helps keep it running smoothly and extends the life of your components. Here are two quick habits that make a big difference:
1. Dry and lube your chain
After a wet ride, dry your chain with a clean cloth
Apply a fresh layer of chain lube to prevent rust and keep shifting smooth
2. Shift into the small rings (mechanical gears only)
Leave your bike in the smallest chainring (front) and smallest sprocket (rear)
This reduces cable tension, helping prevent stretch
It also extends the life of your gear cables, keeping shifting crisp for longer
A couple of minutes after each ride helps keep your Ribble in top condition and ready for the next one.
