How to apply touch-up paint to your Ribble bike

Touch-up paint is a great way to keep your Ribble looking sharp after the odd chip or scratch. Here’s how to get the best results.

1. Clean the surface

  • Wash the area with soap and water.

  • Wipe it dry with a clean microfibre cloth.

  • Make sure the surface is free from dust, grease, or dirt before starting.

2. Apply the touch-up paint

  • Use the smallest brush possible.

  • Apply a thin layer of paint directly to the chip or scratch, keeping within the damaged area.

  • Let it dry fully, then add more thin layers if needed.

  • Building up gradually avoids drips and keeps the finish smooth.

3. Apply the clear coat lacquer

  • Once the paint has dried, apply a light layer of clear coat using a clean brush.

  • This protects the paint and gives a gloss finish.

  • Keep strokes thin and even to avoid runs or bubbles.

4. Allow to dry and cure

  • Let the lacquer dry fully before riding.

  • Once cured, the repair will be protected and should blend neatly with the rest of the frame.
