Recovering VAT after taking your bike out of the UK

Previously, under the VAT Retail Export Scheme, customers leaving the EU for more than 12 months could reclaim VAT on a bike by presenting a VAT407 form to customs when exporting goods.

However, this scheme ended on 1 January 2021 following a government review of duty-free shopping. VAT refunds are no longer available under this process.
