The range shown on your MySmartBike app is an estimate, based on how much power your eBike has used compared to the distance travelled. It uses past data to predict how far you can go with the charge left.
Want to make that charge go further? Here are some simple ways to maximise your battery life.
1. Adjust your motor maps
Your bike comes with three motor maps (green, amber and red lights on the iWoc)
Using the MySmartBike app, you can adjust how much power each level gives (from 30% to 100%)
Example: keep lower levels set to less assistance for flats, but leave the top setting at 100% for steep climbs
The less assistance you use, the more range you’ll get
2. Watch the conditions
Cold weather reduces battery efficiency — expect a drop in range in winter
Hilly terrain or strong headwinds make the motor work harder, draining the battery faster
To go further, choose routes with gentler gradients when you can
3. Keep your bike well maintained
A clean, lubricated drivetrain reduces drag and helps the motor run efficiently
Dirt and grime add resistance, wasting battery power
Regular cleaning and maintenance means longer range and smoother riding
4. Check your tyre pressure
Low tyre pressure increases rolling resistance, using up more power
Check your tyres before each ride and inflate to the PSI shown on the sidewall
Both tubeless and inner tube tyres naturally lose air over time, so regular checks make a big difference
5. Add a range extender
If you still need more distance, a range extender boosts capacity by up to 70%. It mounts like a bottle cage and works as an additional battery.
Make sure you choose the correct model for your system.
By following these steps, you’ll get the most from every charge and enjoy longer, smoother rides.
