We take every step to make sure your Ribble bike arrives safely, but sometimes damage in transit can occur. One of the most common parts affected is the derailleur hanger.
The hanger is a sacrificial component that connects your rear derailleur to the frame. It’s designed to bend or break to protect your frame and drivetrain, and it’s easy to replace if needed.
Why check the hanger?
To protect the rest of your drivetrain
To keep your gears shifting smoothly
To spot damage early, especially after delivery or a crash
How to check your hanger
Keep your bike upright and stand directly behind it
Look at the rear derailleur from behind
The jockey wheel should line up with the corresponding gear on your cassette (see guide image if available)
If it looks out of line, your hanger may be bent.
Need help?
