Whilst we take every step to ensure the safe arrival of your new Ribble bikes, unfortunately they do occasionally sustain damage in transit. Perhaps one of the most likely areas of the bike to be damaged is the hanger. This is a sacrificial component which connects your rear derailleur to the frame. To prevent damage to the more expensive componentry of your bike, this part is designed to take the damage, as well as to be easily replaceable.
It is essential to check the hanger upon receiving your bike, as well as over regular intervals to ensure your bike works as well as it should. Thankfully, the process to do this is very easy.
Simply keep your bike upright and stand directly behind it. Following the blue line seen in the picture below, ensure that the jockey wheel of the derailleur lines up with its corresponding gear on your cassette. If you find your hanger is bent upon arrival, or if you’re unsure, please feel free to contact our friendly customer service team and we’ll be happy to help.
