How to Measure Your Height and Inside Leg for Bike Sizing

Why these measurements matter

Before choosing your frame size, you’ll need two key measurements: your height and your inside leg. These are the foundations of bike sizing and will help match you to the right frame.

It’s easier with a helper, but you can measure yourself if needed.

Measuring your height

  1. Stand upright in bare feet with your back against a wall or door frame.

  2. Place a pencil or pen flat on top of your head, parallel to the floor.

  3. Make a small mark on the wall.

  4. Measure from the floor to the mark – that’s your height.

Measuring your inside leg

  1. Stand upright in bare feet with your back against a wall.

  2. Place a book or ruler between your legs, level with your crotch.

  3. Measure from the top of the book/ruler straight down to the floor – that’s your inside leg measurement.

These two figures will help you choose the frame size that’s right for you.
