As its name suggests, a hybrid bike combines the best characteristics of two types of bikes. It takes an MTB's more upright riding position and combines it with the extra efficiency offered by road bike componentry. As a result, the electric hybrid bike is fast and comfortable on tarmac yet comfortably composed when tackling off-road routes such as bridleways, towpaths, and unkept cycle paths. For these reasons alone, the hybrid bike has consistently proved to be the most popular choice for beginners, urban commuters and recreational cyclists.
With a hybrid bike, you’re not just limited to the road. Fit slick tyres, and it fairly flies on paved surfaces. But swap them out for a tyre with a little more tread and you can explore towpaths and bridleways. A hybrid is a highly capable all-rounder with a gear range wide enough to cope with steep inclines and light enough to make your off-road excursions more enjoyable.
