SRAM AXS makes wireless shifting simple, powerful, and easy to customise. Here’s everything you need to know about charging, pairing, and setup.
Removing and refitting the battery
Open the latch at the top of the battery.
Lift the battery out of the rear derailleur or front mech.
To refit:
Hook the base of the battery into the derailleur.
Press the battery flush against the body.
Close the latch until it clicks.
No tools needed — it’s quick and secure.
Charging your SRAM AXS system
When it’s time to recharge, you’ll see a red flashing LED on the derailleur or shifter.
Remove the battery using the latch.
Place it in the USB charger cradle supplied with your bike.
Plug into a USB port — a full charge takes about 60 minutes.
Note on shifters: These use CR2032 button cell batteries, which don’t recharge. Replace them every 12 months (or sooner if the LED shows red).
Using the SRAM AXS app
The SRAM AXS app gives you full control of your setup:
Personalise shifting behaviour
Check battery levels
Update firmware
Enable features like Sequential and Compensating shifting
It’s quick to set up and well worth downloading if you like fine-tuning your ride.

Pairing your AXS system
Press and hold the AXS button on the rear derailleur until the LED blinks slowly.
Press and hold the AXS button on each shifter until their LEDs blink quickly.
Press the derailleur button again, or wait for pairing to complete automatically.
