A little regular maintenance goes a long way in keeping your Ribble running smoothly, efficiently, and ready for your next ride.
Routine Checks at Home
These simple checks will keep your bike in top condition and can be done with basic tools:
Drivetrain care – Keep your chain, cassette, and chainrings clean and lightly lubricated to reduce wear and ensure smooth shifting.
Tyre pressure – Check before every ride to improve comfort, grip, and efficiency.
Brakes – Inspect brake pads for wear and give the levers a squeeze to check bite.
Useful Tools to Invest In
A few tools make home maintenance much easier:
Multi-tool with Allen keys and chain tool
Floor pump with pressure gauge
Torque wrench (to tighten bolts correctly)
Chain wear checker
Pedal spanner or Allen key (depending on pedals)
Assembly grease or carbon fibre grip (for carbon-to-carbon parts)
Professional Servicing
If you’re not confident with tools, we recommend a professional service every 6 months, or sooner if you ride heavily in wet or gritty conditions. A mechanic can:
Check gear indexing and brake performance
Inspect bearings, cables, and bolts
Spot and fix wear before it causes damage
Grease and Lubrication
Apply grease to pedal threads, headset bearings, and seatposts to prevent corrosion and creaks.
Clean and lube your chain regularly.
For carbon parts, use carbon fibre grip instead of grease.
Safety Checks Before Every Ride
Tyres – Keep within the pressure range printed on the sidewall. Never ride below minimum PSI.
Brakes – Replace pads when worn; check disc pads are at least 1mm thick.
Gears – Make sure the derailleur hanger is straight and gears shift smoothly.
Bolts – Check all bolts are tightened to recommended torque, especially on the bars and stem.
Ribble Tip
Think of maintenance as preventative care. A well-maintained bike is smoother, faster, safer, and much more enjoyable to ride.
