On non-integrated Ribble SL models, the bottom spacer in the headset stack can occasionally become misaligned. Here’s a quick and easy way to get it lined up again.
Step-by-Step Guide
Remove the top cap bung
Pop out the rubber bung from the top cap bolt.Loosen bolts
Using a 4mm or 5mm Allen key, loosen the top cap bolt and the stem pinch bolts.Reposition the spacer
With the headset now loose, realign the bottom spacer so it sits correctly.Check wheel alignment
Make sure the front wheel is still in line with the stem and handlebars.Tighten the headset bolt
Gradually tighten until all play is removed from the headset.Check for play
Pull the front brake and rock the bike back and forth. If you feel movement, tighten the headset bolt a little more.Check for resistance
Turn the handlebars from lock to lock. If you feel resistance, loosen the headset bolt slightly.Secure everything
Once you’re happy with the headset tension, re-torque the stem pinch bolts and refit the top cap bung.
