To get the best performance from your disc brakes, they need to be bedded in properly. This process transfers an even layer of brake pad material to the rotor, improving stopping power and consistency.
How to bed in your brakes
Find a safe stretch of road or a long, gradual hill where you can reach about 20mph.
Gently apply the brakes for 5–6 seconds to generate heat.
Squeeze the brakes harder until you come to a complete stop.
Repeat the process several times until the brakes feel sharper and more consistent.
Why it matters
Improves braking performance
Reduces noise and vibration
Extends pad and rotor life
Once bedded in, your brakes will give you smoother, more reliable stopping power from your first proper ride.
