Like all lithium batteries, your eBike battery won’t last forever. Unlike old lead-acid batteries, these modern lithium cells can’t be serviced or repaired — when they reach the end of their life, they need to be replaced.
If your battery fails outside of the two-year Mahle warranty, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
For information on caring for your E-bike battery, see the Mahle care and maintenance guides X35 Battery Care & Maintenance or Battery Care & Maintenance X & M Series.
Our replacement service
- We’ll collect your eBike from your home address via courier, or you can drop it off at one of our Ribble showrooms
- It will then be sent to our Preston HQ, where our expert mechanics will:
- Fit a brand-new battery
- Carry out a full bike check-over
- Complete a pre-delivery inspection to ensure everything’s running smoothly
- The service costs £750, covering all parts, labour, and inspection
- We aim to return your bike within 30 working days, often sooner
Battery Disposal
When Ribble Cycles Limited (“Ribble”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) supplies and fits a replacement eBike battery as part of a repair, service, or maintenance visit, we’ll take care of the old battery for you.
We’ll collect the replaced battery and ensure it is disposed of safely and responsibly in line with UK regulations. This battery take‑back service is included at no extra cost and does not form part of, or add to, any labour or service charges for the work carried out.
Environmental Compliance
Ribble is registered with the Environment Agency as a Battery Producer (Registration Number: BPRN12843) and meets its obligations under the Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009. For more information on Battery Producer Responsibilities, please visit the official UK Government website at Waste batteries: producer responsibility - GOV.UK.
All batteries collected through our replacement service are handled, stored, transported, and recycled via an Approved Battery Treatment Operator (ABTO) or Approved Battery Exporter (ABE), as required by UK environmental law. Batteries returned to Ribble will never be sent to landfill or incineration.
Customer Responsibilities
Electric bicycle batteries must not be disposed of in household waste, standard recycling, or general waste facilities, as lithium‑based batteries require specialist handling.
Where a battery replacement is carried out by Ribble, ownership of the replaced battery passes to Ribble solely, so we can manage its safe and compliant disposal.
